We have all seen some period dramas where a group of people are sitting in a grand dining room at a heavily laden table being served food from the sideboard. Whilst we may not have the servants or the grand dining rooms of yesteryears, we do still dine and need storage space for our cutlery and china. Therefore, Sideboards are pieces of history we can have in our homes today. Versatile and beautiful, they are ideal pieces of furniture for living rooms, dining rooms or indeed kitchens.
You must also decide what types of influence you want in your sideboard. You can have it colonial themed, Egyptian themed, European themed, or Asian themed. The choices for style are as endless as your imagination! Once you have decided what type of sideboard you want and what style and size fits your home, all you have to do next is decide where to place it. Sideboards are made to help a room reach its true potential by helping you to avoid clutter and add that little je ne sais quoi to your interior design.
Sideboards are usually long and slim, and use a minimal amount of floor space, making it easy to fit them in anywhere! The table tops are ideal for you to place your food before serving, or can act as your bar counter or buffet table when you have social engagements! It can also serve as a place to display your favorite photographs, or aesthetically place a few decorative vases and themed knick knacks. With the ample storage space underneath, a plethora of choices are made available for you to store your crockery and china in the cabinets; silverware and linen in the draws, or perhaps a few cookbooks in the shelves. You even place your wine in the wine racks. The options are endless!
